Opinions please...

I need your opinion please.
My 30th birthday is coming up and I'm in two minds about what to wear.  On the one hand I'd love to go a bit glam in Vogue 1102.

I'm not a big bow person so I'd probably leave the strap across the back and use a decorative buckle or pin to give it a bit of bling.  I even joined Pattern Review so that I could read all the reviews and everyone was very positive about the pattern.

Or do I forget about the glam dress and just wear my jeans and a nice top?

Bonus - the pattern is currently on sale!  What to do, what to do...

I say get dressed up in a glam dress - it's the perfect excuse for sewing yourself something lovely!

Hmmm, have you got the time to make it? I'm all for a new frock any time. It seems to be high waisted, almost an empire waist, are you happy with this? They don't suit me at all, however I would be 30kgs heavier than you. You could wear something more fitted with great ease.
Summing up, go for it if you love it.. hugs xx

I say absolutely dress up. However, I'm a bit unsure about the dress choice.

I saw this dress blogged about on the Tessuti blog (http://tessuti.blogspot.com/2011/04/pattern-review-vogue-1102.html) last week and the lady who sewed it stood in the same pose as the bottom picture. It made me wonder what it actually looked like hanging loose. Do you need to stand like that all night, holding the dress outwards, to look good? Hmmmmm...maybe, maybe not? If you do, what are you going to do with your flute of bubbly?

You don't really get a good idea of the empire line from the top picture because it's in black. I think the back looks fun and interesting but the front is all a bit 'meh'....a cross between maternity and muimui but in glam fabric. I think I'd go for a younger style that will showcase just how tall, thin and gorgeous you are heading into your 30s. (Save this one for your big 40...or 50!)

Definitely dress up!

Happy Easter to you and your family.
