Stripes, as he has been named, helped calm Paige and keep her company when she was unexpectedly admitted to hospital on Saturday.
I'm not the type of person to rush to the doctors and it's incredibly rare for me to go to the emergency department, so it never crossed my mind that the stomach pain Paige was experiencing could be an appendicitis. She played netball and then came home and did her chores! The poor girl looked so awful I finally Googled the symptoms of an appendicitis, then I quickly bundled her in the car and took off. I knew I was right when the triage nurse had us in with a doctor within 10 minutes.
She had surgery within 24 hours, everything went really well and she's now recuperating at home. The public hospital system gets a lot of criticism, but I have nothing but praise. The surgeon, doctors, nurses and all the other staff were just amazing.
So thank you to the Red Cross Volunteer and a huge thank you to all the staff at the Monash Medical Centre.
There was quite a bit of pinterest planning done while we were in hospital so there should be some sewing to share soon.

Glad that everything worked out for you! Not fun to go through, but pleased everything went as well as it did. Best wishes and a speedy recovery for you daughter.
It's great you caught it in time!
Sorry, something went wrong there... Meant to also add that in pre-google times my little sister had the same symptoms - mum delayed & delayed, finally went to hospital. My sis was admitted immediately for surgery - her appendix had burst and she had perotonitis (blood poisoning)! Luckily she lived to tell the tale, but my poor mum still feels guilt over it. So glad your daughter is on the mend, and her little bear is lovely. Xx
Oh the poor thing! Hope it is a speedy recovery. We are quite frequent visitors to the ED with 2 little boys. As an employee of the public health care system, it is good to hear praise!
Phew - I'm glad you guessed right! I've only been to emergency a few times with the kids when they were really young, but have to agree that the staff are wonderful despite all the flak the public health system gets in the media. I hope Paige is feeling well again soon!
Gosh, what an experience - for your daughter and yourself. I hope that she is on the mend very quickly.
So glad all went well and that Paige had that lovely little bear to keep her company, the Red Cross do so much.
Oh! glad Paige is doing well, she's darling. Frightening when our little heartbeats take ill. Cute bear!
Goodness! So glad to hear she's on the road to recovery! x
So sorry that you had such a scare, but I'm very glad that Paige is doing well and recovering. Appendicitis is not fun! Take care :)
